After much deliberation, the Hyland Hills Park & Recreation District is closing Splashland Aquatics Center.
Originally built in 1957, the facility has reached the end of its useful life. We are grateful that, in partnership with Westminster Public Schools, we have been able to provide this resource for the community for over 60 years.
This decision was not made lightly. Hyland Hills considered several key studies, including the District’s 2023 Strategic Plan, Community Aquatics Study, and consultation from a third-party expert.
Through this, it became clear that Splashland has deteriorating infrastructure that is beyond its useful life, lacks adequate access, and would cost millions of dollars in repairs to bring it to modern standards.
While Splashland is closing, we are committed to continuing to serve residents with swim lessons and other aquatic programs. Carroll Butts Aquatics Center will remain open.
Starting in 2026, a new community asset is coming to Water World. A reimagined, modernized area will provide new attractions and feature a new swim lesson location and additional programming options. This area will better serve the entire Hyland Hills community and offer an enhanced, but affordable, aquatics experience for local residents.
More information will be announced later this fall and over the next several months. Stay tuned to our Water World project page for updates as well as our Splashland page for community aquatics opportunities.
Please submit your contact information if you would like to receive community aquatics updates as they become available.
